A Story
of Daring and
Tenacity
It was in 1989 that the first skiers began to descend the mountain and discover its secret. Before them, a number of enthusiasts had already trodden the Mont du Midi and discovered what was to make its reputation - its unique powder. It was these courageous people who didn't hesitate to talk about their idea and create an active group to launch the Massif du Sud project. It took ambition to see a ski resort on this mountain through this virgin forest, with no access road and no service infrastructure. Many of the stories that happened back then have now become Massif legends and an integral part of our history.
Since the resort's inception, we've witnessed the tenacity and pride of the local people. Despite the obstacles, they have always rallied together and persevered to bring their jewel to life. The efforts were magnanimous, and everyone knew the potential of one of Quebec's most beautiful corners of the country.
Since 2007, Le Massif du Sud has been developing at an incredible pace, and the whole of Quebec has recognized its splendours. The resort's orientation remains true to the origins of the first trail runners, offering a simple, unique and authentic playground. The imagination of just a few pioneers has brought the unique Massif du Sud experience to thousands of enthusiasts: including you.
